Enabling or disabling Lightspeed Retail POS products to sell online in Lightspeed eCom

This article is for Lightspeed Retail POS (X-Series) merchants who have Lightspeed eCom (E-Series) included in their subscription plan. To learn more about Retail POS, check out the X-Series Help Center or the E-Series Help Center.

After you connect your Retail POS catalog to Lightspeed eCom (E-Series), all your products are synced immediately and your Retail POS becomes the system of record. To give you more control over what products to showcase online, products do not appear in your online store right away. You have to manually enable goods to make them available for shoppers.

By enabling and disabling existing products to sell online, you influence your catalog visibility for different channels. In other words, you can make goods available for in-store, online, or both in-store and online purchase.

Activating or deactivating individual products to sell with Lightspeed eCom

You can choose to activate or deactivate individual products within Retail POS by changing the visibility of a product for both eCom and Retail POS.

When you enable or disable products for eCom, they change their visibility not only on your website but also on other sales channels (if you have any) like Facebook shop, Instagram, and any other platform where you added your store. For example, if you hide the product, customers won’t see it, whether they are browsing your website or your Facebook shop.

To activate or deactivate products linked to eCom individually:

  1. From your backoffice, navigate to CatalogProducts.
  2. Locate the product you wish to enable or disable, using the filters if necessary, and click to expand.
  3. Click Manage Channels at the menu on the right:

  4. Click the In-store or Webstore toggles to enable or disable the product, depending on where you wish the product to be available for sale:

These changes will be applied automatically, and the product will be activated or deactivated in eCom. The Channels column on the Catalog page will be updated to denote where the product is currently available:

Activating or deactivating products in bulk to sell with Lightspeed eCom

You can toggle the visibility of a product for both eCom and Retail POS within Retail POS, allowing you to sell a product in-store only, online only, or both in-store and online. You can also perform this task in bulk, which is the fastest way to make all your products visible in your webstore.

When you enable or disable products for eCom, they change their visibility not only on your website but also on other sales channels (if you have any) like Facebook shop, Instagram, and any other platform where you added your store. For example, if you hide the product, customers won’t see it, whether they are browsing your website or your Facebook shop.

To activate or deactivate products linked to eCom in bulk:

  1. From your backoffice, navigate to CatalogProducts.
  2. Use the checkboxes to select the products that you wish to activate or deactivate:

If you manage your product catalog via a spreadsheet, product online status is included in product exports and can be edited in spreadsheets. For more information on importing and exporting products using spreadsheets, visit our article Importing products in bulk.
