Syncing Retail POS promotions with Lightspeed eCom

This article is for Lightspeed Retail POS (X-Series) merchants who have Lightspeed eCom (E-Series) included in their subscription plan. To learn more about Retail POS (X-Series), check out the X-Series Help Center.

If you’re using Lightspeed eCom (E-series) to sell online, you can sync promotions from your Retail POS with your online store, meaning that discounts created in POS can be applied to in-store sales, online sales, and both. Currently, you can sync only basic promotions that are one-time fixed-value or percentage discounts available to all customers. In addition, you can create cart total discounts.

To set up and manage discounts, go to Catalog → Promotions in your Retail POS. You can create up to 500 promotions for both in-store and online sales.

Enabling promotions for Lightspeed eCom

To make promotions available for online sales, you need to enable them for Lightspeed eCom first. Once enabled, you can choose where to apply a promotion when creating it: in retail stores, online, or both.

To enable omni promotions for Lightspeed eCom:

  1. From your Retail POS, go to Setup → Apps.
  2. Near Lightspeed Ecom, click the pencil icon.
  3. Scroll down to Sync promotions and tick Sync promotions with eCom.
  4. Click Save changes.

Creating promotions for Lightspeed eCom

Currently, only basic promotions are available for online sales with Lightspeed eCom. This includes one-time fixed-value or percentage discounts for products. Recurring promotions and customer-specific promotions are limited for in-store sales only.

Lightspeed eCom offers online-specific discounts that apply to products and specific product categories available for online sale. You can set up and manage these discounts directly from your eCom admin.

To create a promotion that is applied to online sales in your Lightspeed eCom:

  1. From your Retail POS, navigate to Catalog → Promotions.
  2. Click Add Promotion.
  3. Specify the promotion name and add a short description that will be displayed to employees and customers to identify and explain the promotion.
  4. In the Channel section, specify where you want to run the promotion: in-store, online, or both.
  5. In the Schedule promotion section, specify when you want the promotion to begin and end. 
  6. In the Type of promotion section, choose Basic and specify the discount and products it’s applied to. 
  7. Click Save.

Editing promotions for Lightspeed eCom

All discounts that you create for your online sales are stored on the Catalog → Promotions page in your Retail POS. You can edit discounts to match your current business needs. For example, you might increase the discount amount towards the end of a week-long sale.

To edit a promotion that is applied to online sales in your Lightspeed eCom:

  1. From your Retail POS, navigate to Catalog → Promotions.
  2. Find the promotion that you want to edit and click the pencil icon to edit it.
  3. Make changes.
  4. Click Save.

Changes will apply immediately.
