Using export and import
One more way to update several products at a time is using export and import. You need to export the products you want to change, edit them in a spreadsheet and then re-upload them to your store using the import feature. Here are our instructions:
How can I move all products from one category to another?
You can do this by exporting the products and importing them to a new category or by editing the categories manually.
Exporting the products and re-importing them to a new category
To rearrange many products, it’s best to import them with new parameters. You need to export the products you want to change, edit them in a spreadsheet and then re-upload them to your store using the import feature. Please refer to the articles about exporting and importing your products.
Editing the categories manually
Here are the steps to rearrange the products manually:
- Go to Ecwid Control Panel → Catalog → Categories.
- Find the desired category in the left panel and click it..
- Open the Category products tab:
- Click Remove All. They are now uncategorized and will be listed on the storefront page much like featured products.
- Open the category where you want to move the products.
- Open the Category products tab.
- Click Assign Products to Category.
- In the popup, select the products to add.
- Click Add products:
- These products are now listed under the desired category.
How can I add a delivery date to my products?
Add a delivery date using a Date Picker under Ecwid Control Panel → Catalog → Products, product page, the Options tab → Input Type. With this feature, you can allow customers to specify a date. Read more about Options types.
How can I remove decimals from product prices?
- Go to Ecwid Control Panel → Settings → General → Regional Settings.
- Enable Hide trailing zeros in fractional part:
This removes all remainders from your prices if they show a zero – $40.00 will show as $40. If a product price or an order total has a decimal that is not zero (e.g. $40.95), we will show the decimal to reflect the exact cost for customers.
Please note, the fractional part is removed automatically if your currency doesn't use decimals. For example, prices will never include decimals if the currency is set to the Japanese Yen.
Will Ecwid notify me when my products are low or out of stock?
Yes, Ecwid will send you a message if you enable this option for your products:
- Go to Ecwid Control Panel → Catalog → Products.
- Open a product for editing.
- Click Manage under Stock Control:
- Set the number of products under Send me a note when quantity in stock reaches:":
- Once specified, Ecwid will email you whenever the quantity dips below the number you entered.
Can I set the weight for ounces?
Yes, to do this, you convert the weight in ounces to a decimal ratio for pounds. Each ounce is 0.06 pounds. Be sure to use a zero before the decimal.
How do I add a video to a product description
- Upload your video file to YouTube or Vimeo.
- Copy the link (address from the browser) of the uploaded video.
- Go to Ecwid Control Panel → Catalog → Products.
- Click on desired product.
- Paste the link in the Description field.
- Save the changes.
How do I show that a product has free shipping?
