FAQ about managing products in your Ecwid store

This article contains a collection of answers to frequent questions related to the store catalog and products you sell in your Ecwid store.

How can I edit products in bulk?

It is possible to easily update your products in bulk using the Bulk Product Editor app. The app allows to:

  • Bulk update all products, or filter which you want to change
  • Change properties like price, weight, quantity and more
  • Add/remove options, and add/remove choices to these options
  • Bulk enable/disable products in your store.

You can install the app right in your control panel on the app page in Ecwid App Market.

It is possible to use apps on the paid plans only. Upgrade to get this feature

How can I move all products from one category to another?

There are two possible ways:

Exporting the products and re-importing them to a new category

If you want to re-arrange many products, the best way is to import them with new parameters. Please, refer to the articles about exporting and importing your products.

Editing the categories manually

Here are the steps to rearrange the products manually:

  1. Go to your Ecwid Control Panel → Catalog → Categories.
  2. Find the necessary category in the left panel and click it.
  3. Open the Category products tab:

  1. Click Remove All. The products will be removed from this category, but the products themselves will not be removed.
  2. Open the category you want to move the products to.
  3. Open the Category products tab.
  4. Click Assign Products to Category.
  5. In the popup select the products to add to the destination category.
  6. Click Add products:

  1. The products will be added to the category.

How can I add a delivery date to my products?

You need to add a date picker to the products. Use the product options feature and select the Date Picker option type.

How can I remove the decimals from product prices?

If you want to to omit decimals in product prices, do the following:

  1. Go to your Ecwid Control Panel → Settings → General → Regional Settings.
  2. Enable Hide trailing zeros in fractional part:

After that all zeros in fractional part will be removed. So for example $40,00 will be displayed as $40. 

If a product price or an order total has fractional part that is not zero (e.g. $40,57), it will be always displayed to show the exact cost to customer.

Please note, that the fractional part is removed automatically, if your currency doesn't have it at all. For example, Yen. If you use such a currency, then it isn't necessary to enable the "Hide trailing zeros in fractional part" option. 

Will Ecwid notify me when my products are low or out of stock?

Yes, Ecwid will send you a message, if you enable this option for your products:

  1. Go to your Ecwid Control Panel → Catalog → Products.
  2. Open a product for editing.
  3. Click Manage under Stock Control:

  1. Set the number of products under Send me a note when quantity in stock reaches:":

  1. When this is set up, Ecwid will send you a note when the quantity in stock reaches the number you entered.
If a product has unlimited quantity, it is always in stock, so the low stock notifications will never be sent.

Can I set the weight for ounces?

Yes, it is of course possible. You should convert weight to a decimal ratio of the pound. For example:

1 ounce = 0.06 pounds

15 ounces = 0.94 pounds

Please use the zero before the dot. 

How to add a video to a product description

To add a video to product description, do the following:

  1. Upload your video file to YouTube or Vimeo.
  2. Copy the link to the uploaded video from the browser address bar.
  3. Go to your Ecwid Control Panel → Catalog → Products.
  4. Click on a product you want to add a video to.
  5. Paste the link in the Description field. The editor will recognise that it is the link to the video and will display the video.
  6. Save the changes.

How to show that a product has free shipping?

Showing free shipping signs on product or checkout pages is a great incentive for customers to purchase a product. First you need to set the free shipping:

  1. Go to your Ecwid Control Panel → Catalog → Products.
  2. Select a product for editing.
  3. Go to the Tax and Shipping tab.
  4. Check Free Shipping:

Now, to show customers that these products have free delivery, use one of the following options: 

  1. Use the Free Shipping Icon app. This application allows to display a default or a custom Free shipping icon in the product details pages of your store. The icon can appear on different conditions and options and you are free to choose your own preferences.
  2. Use the Product Labels app. This application allows to put any number of labels on your storefront, including the free shipping icon. If necessary, you can easily hide labels from buyers or assign them to other products. You can use various shapes, adjust colors and position.
Using applications is available on Ecwid paid plans only. Upgrade to get this feature
  1. Update the product image to add a free shipping note or a badge. To do that, find a small icon or image that you wish to use. Then get your product image that you uploaded to Ecwid earlier and edit it in any image editor to add that icon to the product image. After that, update product image for that product.

How do I show all products on store landing page? 

It is actually a quite common practice to put all store products on the main store page (landing page) to make them more visible.

How to show the recently viewed products?

You can show the recently viewed products in your store with the help of the Recently Viewed Products app from the Ecwid App Market.
