Adding welcome texts and banners in your store
You can easily add texts (a welcome text, an announcement, or special offer info), banners, videos, or pictures (e.g., icons of credit cards that you accept) to your store front page or to any category's description.
Adding texts, pictures, and videos
You can add any text, image or video to any category page (including store front page) using the built-in text editor.
To add content to a page:
- From your Ecwid admin, go to Catalog → Categories.
- Choose the category you want to add content to in the list on the left. To display content on the store home page, choose Store front page category.
- Find the Description field on the right:
- Type your text or click an appropriate icon to add a video, image, table, or a link to the category description. You can change font size and color to make your text more vivid.
The texts, pictures, or videos that you add to category descriptions will appear on top of the page of the corresponding category. In the case of the Store front page category, customers will see them on top of the store front page.
Here’s how a banner image might look on the category page:
Adding clickable banners
Banner is the first thing to catch the eye of your store’s visitors. It can give your store a consistent and unique look. You can use banners to inform shoppers about special offers, news, hot deals, and any other relevant info.
In your Ecwid store, you can add not only plain banner images, but also clickable banners. For example, you can redirect your shoppers to the category or product you want to highlight.
To add a clickable banner to your store:
- From your Ecwid admin, go to Catalog → Categories.
- Choose the category you want to add your banner to. To display the banner on the store home page, choose Store front page category.
- In the Description field, click the image icon to insert your image.
- (optional) Drag a corner selection handle to resize the image. To align the image, click the alignment icon and choose where to place the banner.
- In the Description field, click the <> icon in the upper right corner of the editor menu to enter the HTML mode.
- Your image will be shown in the <img src="..."> part:
- Enter <a href="https://www.YOURLINK.com/"> right before the <img src="..."> part. Instead of https://www.YOURLINK.com/ you should insert into <a href=""> the webpage address that you need. You can simply copy the link to a page and paste it inside the quotation marks.
- After the <img src="..."> put </a> so the code looks like this:
- Click the <> icon in the upper right corner of the editor menu to exit the HTML mode and check the changes.
- Click Save.
That’s it! Now you have a clickable banner in your store. When someone clicks it, they will be redirected to the page you’ve inserted a link to.
Adding banners and popups via apps
You can also add a popup banner or a promo bar to your store using apps from Ecwid App Market.
The following apps allow adding eye-catching banners and popups:
- 20+ Promotional Sales Tools from Zotabox allows you to create banners, popups, bars, and more. You can choose where to display them in your store and customize texts and design however you like.
