Adding welcome texts and banners in your store

You can easily add texts (a welcome text, an announcement, or special offer info), banners, videos, or pictures (e.g., icons of credit cards that you accept) to your store front page or to any category's description.

If you sell wine, beer, or any other type of alcohol, add a banner image to inform visitors about age restrictions in your store.

Adding texts, pictures, and videos

You can add any text, image or video to any category page (including store front page) using the built-in text editor.

To add content to a page:

  1. From your Ecwid admin, go to Catalog → Categories.
  2. Choose the category you want to add content to in the list on the left. To display content on the store home page, choose Store front page category.
  3. Find the Description field on the right:

  4. Type your text or click an appropriate icon to add a video, image, table, or a link to the category description. You can change font size and color to make your text more vivid.

The texts, pictures, or videos that you add to category descriptions will appear on top of the page of the corresponding category. In the case of the Store front page category, customers will see them on top of the store front page.

Here’s how a banner image might look on the category page:

The content that you add to the Store front page category will not be displayed on the front page of the New-Gen version of our Instant Site. Customers will see it only on the page. Learn how you can add a banner to New-Gen Instant Site

  2. Choose the category you want to add your banner to. To display the banner on the store home page, choose Store front page category.
  3. In the Description field, click the image icon to insert your image.
  4. (optional) Drag a corner selection handle to resize the image. To align the image, click the alignment icon and choose where to place the banner.
  5. In the Description field, click the <> icon in the upper right corner of the editor menu to enter the HTML mode.
  6. Your image will be shown in the <img src="..."> part:

  7. Enter <a href=""> right before the <img src="..."> part. Instead of you should insert into <a href=""> the webpage address that you need. You can simply copy the link to a page and paste it inside the quotation marks.
  8. After the <img src="..."> put </a> so the code looks like this:

  9. Click the <> icon in the upper right corner of the editor menu to exit the HTML mode and check the changes.
