Personalizing storefront texts in Ecwid

In Ecwid, default storefront texts are connected to Store Labels, which have predefined wording that you can customize to match your preferences. For example, you can rename Featured Products to Hot Deals, change the Add to Bag button to Add to Cart, or modify Sold Out to Unavailable, and so on. To do this, use the Store Label Editor to update the wording that appears in your online store for your default language. For multilingual stores, you can adjust the default text across all languages.

This article applies to your storefront—the part of your store where customers browse and purchase products. The storefront includes key elements such as product lists, individual product pages, store categories, navigation tools, the shopping cart, and more. If you need to edit text on your Instant Site website, you can do so in the Content tab within the relevant site section. Learn more

Changing storefront label texts

You can replace default text labels in your storefront, such as changing Cart to Shopping Bag, with custom text in just a few clicks using the Store Label Editor. If you add another language to your store, you can customize the text in that language as well.

To change the wording of labels in your Ecwid storefront:

  1. From your Ecwid admin, go to Settings → Edit Store Labels.
  2. Click + Get started.
  3. In the search field, enter the default text you want to change. For example, Add to bag, On Sale, Featured Products, etc.
  4. Enter your custom text into the corresponding field. For example, HOT DEAL instead of On sale. If you get more than one search result with the same wording, change all of them. That way, all your buttons or labels with the same text will be updated:

  5. (for multilingual stores) Select the text you want to change in any language and write your wording instead.

  6. Changes are saved automatically. If you need to undo changes, click three dots right to a field and choose Reset to default.

Now customers will see the button or any other interface element with your custom wording.

To update the name of the Order Comments section, use the built-in settings in Settings → Cart & Checkout tab.

Removing unwanted text labels from the storefront

If you don’t want a certain text label to appear in your storefront, you can remove it entirely. For example, you might want to hide the Featured Products title so that featured products are displayed without a heading. To do this, delete the default text in the Store Label Editor. When removed, the text will no longer be visible in your store.

If you ever change your mind, you can restore the default wording.

To hide the default wording in your storefront:

  1. From your store admin, go to Settings → Edit Store Labels.
  2. Click +Get started.
  3. In the search field, enter the text you want to delete. For example, Featured Products.
  4. Delete the label value:

  5. The changes are saved automatically.
  6. To undo deleting, click three dots right to a field and choose Reset to default.
