Apple Pay
Apple Pay lets customers using Safari browser on iPhone, iPad, and Mac check out in your Ecwid store with one tap. It makes the purchasing process easier for customers encouraging more customers to complete the purchase.
When using Apple Pay, customers don’t have to manually enter their credit card details or shipping info as this is already securely stored on their device. All they need to complete a purchase is to choose Apple Pay at checkout and identify themselves with Touch ID or Face ID. Orders paid with Apple Pay will display the Apple Pay icon in the order details in your Ecwid admin.
Store requirements
To offer Apple Pay in your store, make sure you meet the following requirements:
- Your site runs on HTTPS.
- You specified your store location (store URL) in Ecwid admin → Settings → General → Store Profile → Store location.
Setting up Apple Pay
In Ecwid, payments on Apple Pay are processed through a Stripe payment provider. Further instructions on setting up Apple Pay vary depending on whether you use the Ecwid Instant site or you added your store to WordPress or any other website.
- From your Ecwid admin, go to the Payment page.
- Scroll down to Stripe. Depending on whether you have a Stripe payment option set up in Ecwid or not, follow the steps below.
- (Stripe is set up) If you have already set up Stripe as a payment option, click Set Up Apple Pay. Now Apple Pay will be enabled automatically.
- (Stripe is not set up) If you haven’t set up Stripe, click Connect with Stripe. Then follow the instructions on the Stripe site to give Ecwid access to your Stripe account and complete the setup.
- From your Ecwid admin, go to the Payment page.
- Scroll down to Stripe.
- (Have a Stripe account ) If you have a Stripe account, click Set Up Apple Pay. Now Apple Pay will be enabled automatically.
- (Don’t have a Stripe account) If you need to create a new Stripe account, click Connect with Stripe. Then follow the instructions on the Stripe site to give Ecwid access to your Stripe account and complete the setup.
- From your Ecwid admin, go to the Payment page.
- Scroll down to Stripe.
- (Have a Stripe account) If you have a Stripe account, click Set Up Apple Pay. Now Apple Pay will be enabled automatically.
- (Don’t have a Stripe account) If you need to create a new Stripe account, click Connect with Stripe. Then follow the instructions on the Stripe site to give Ecwid access to your Stripe account and complete the setup.
- When you have a Stripe account, click Set Up Apple Pay to verify your website domain with Apple.
- Follow instructions in a short wizard and upload a verification file to your website.
- Click Verify Uploaded File.
Once you complete the steps, customers will be able to check out with Apple Pay in your store.

Why is the Apple Pay button not showing at checkout?
There may be multiple reasons why you don’t see the Apple Pay button in your store. To fix it, try these troubleshooting steps make sure:
- Your store meets all requirements for using Apple Pay.
- You use a device that is compatible with Apple Pay and you have an active Wallet.
- Your Stripe account is in live mode, i.e. able to accept real transactions. To check that, go to your Ecwid admin → Payment → Stripe and see if there are any warnings about accepting live charges:
- You use the latest design for your Ecwid storefront. Go to your Ecwid admin → Settings → What’s New and enable storefront updates, if any, to make sure that you use the Next Generation Storefront.
- Your domain is verified via Ecwid. It’s possible that you verified your website domain in the Stripe account manually instead of verifying it via Ecwid. In this case, the Apple Pay button may show up in your store for a second and then disappear. Here is how to fix it:
- Go to your Stripe account → Settings → Payment Methods → Apple Pay and remove the domain.
- Go to your Ecwid admin → Payment → Stripe.
- Click Edit next to your domain → Remove.
- Click Add domain and follow the wizard to re-add your domain.

Can I accept Apple Pay when selling in-person?
To accept Apple Pay when selling in-person, you should use a Point of Sale system and process the payment via that system. Ecwid integrates with such POS systems as Square, Clover, and Vend. Contact the support of the POS system you use to find out whether they support Apple Pay and get instructions on how to set it up in your POS.
How can I withdraw money?
As soon as a customer pays for an order via Apple Pay, the funds will be transferred to your Stripe account. After that, you will receive the payment on your personal bank account in accordance with the applicable payout schedule that you specified in your Stripe Dashboard. The schedule depends on your country and whether your business operates in a higher-risk industry. You can look up all variants for payout schedules on the Stripe site.
The first payout can take up to 14 days to be deposited to your account. The first payout usually takes a little longer in order to establish the Stripe account.
What are the fees?
There are no extra processing fee when using Apple Pay. You will only be charged with the Stripe Standard Processing fee: 1.4% + €0.25 for for European cards and 2.9% + €0.25 for non-European cards. You can find more information at the Stripe Help Center.
