Informing your customers about ongoing promotions

With the help of promotions you can build your customer base, boost store traffic and increase customers' loyalty.

However, launching a promotion is only halfway to success. You can come up with a great promotion campaign, but the execution is what matters the most.

It's vital to make sure that you let your customer know about your promotion campaign. For this you can use Ecwid's solutions.

Note on the store home page

The first way to show your customers that you have an offer for them is to add a message to your store front page. This message will display on your store home page, above your catalog.

To add a message on the store home page:

  1. From your Ecwid admin, go to Catalog → Categories.
  2. Select Store Front Page.
  3. Open the General tab.
  4. Add your message to the Description field. You can change the size, color and background for your text:


  1. Save the changes.

You can add a text, an image, or even a video to the description of the Store Front page — it's totally up to you.

This is an easy and yet very effective way to inform your customers on an ongoing promotion. Here is how your customers see it in your store:


Note on a category page

If you run a promotion for a particular category of products, it makes sense to add the promotion information to participating category pages.

To add a note to a category page:

  1. From your Ecwid admin, go to Catalog → Categories.
  2. Select the category you want to add a note to.
  3. Open the General tab.
  4. Add your message to the Description field. You can change the size, color and background for your text:


When your customers open this category, the promo information is the first thing they see:


Product ribbons

You can visually highlight certain products on your storefront. For example, you offer free shipping for them – or have a promotion. In this case, you can add product ribbons.

To add a ribbon to your product:

  1. From your Ecwid admin, go to Catalog → Products.
  2. Click Add New Product or choose a product from the list.
  3. Scroll down to the Add or edit ribbon field and click on it.
  4. Fill out the Ribbon text field.
  5. Choose the Ribbon color.
  6. Click Save.

Ribbons are always shown in your product grid:


They are also displayed on the product details page (under the price field):


You can also use subtitles to tell about product advantages.

Promote directly on your website

If you added Ecwid to your own website, then you can put promo information at any place on a website you want: header, pop-up, sidebar, footer, everything is up to you and what your website build has to offer here.
