GST charges for Ecwid merchants located in Australia
According to the updated regulations, effective 1 July, 2017, Australian goods and services tax (GST) now applies to sales of imported services and digital products to Australian consumers. Ecwid's online shopping cart is considered a digital service and thus we are compelled to comply with these changes.

How will Ecwid charge GST for Australian clients?
Ecwid plan prices for Australian customers are updated to include GST(10%). Your country is automatically detected by Ecwid based on your IP address. If this information is incorrect, you can edit your country in the Ecwid Control Panel → Settings → General → Store Profile tab, or from the "Change country" drop-down menu during the billing process.
All pricing and billing pages within Ecwid are updated to clearly reflect the new rates.
What if I am a B2B provider and have an Australian Business Number (ABN)?
When providing services on a business-to-business basis, Ecwid is not required to assess and collect GST. As long as a valid GST number is provided, you may reconcile GST on your own. If you are an Australian company, possessing a valid ABN, please add your ABN number in the Ecwid control panel as soon as possible. Upon acceptance of this number, Ecwid will zero-rate the GST.
In order to submit your merchant ABN to Ecwid, please:
1. Log in to your Ecwid control panel.
2. Hit your name in the upper right corner → Billing and Plans page.
3. Click on "Set your ABN number" to enter your ABN.
4. Ecwid will validate the entered number with the official ABN database.
5. Upon approval, click to save ABN in merchant profile.
You can also enter your ABN on the checkout page during the process of paying for an Ecwid plan. This process will follow the same steps as detailed above, automatically adjusting the order being placed, and saving the entered ABN in the store profile for future.
