VAT charges for Ecwid merchants located in Switzerland and Liechtenstein
Starting 25 November 2026, in accordance with tax regulations, Ecwid is required to charge an 8.1% Value-Added Tax (VAT) on the Ecwid subscription fees for online stores located in Switzerland or Liechtenstein. This charge will be reflected in your upcoming invoices.
How will Ecwid charge VAT for the merchants located in Switzerland and Liechtenstein?
Ecwid plan prices and the internally billed paid app prices for customers from Switzerland and Liechtenstein are updated to include VAT (8.1%).
Ecwid automatically detects your country based on your IP address. When choosing an Ecwid plan on the Billing and Plans page in your Ecwid admin, you will see a plan price without the 8.1% VAT. Once you proceed to checkout, you will see the final price with the included VAT.
If Ecwid incorrectly detects your country, you can edit your country in the Ecwid admin panel → Settings → General → Store Profile tab, or from the "Change country" drop-down menu during the billing process.
Please note that tax exemption options are not available for these regions.
