Connecting 1and1 IONOS domain to your Ecwid Instant Site

You can make your Ecwid Instant Site available via a custom domain. Having your own domain helps personalize your online business, makes it look professional and improves your website ranking in Google, Yahoo and other search engines.

If you already have a domain name from 1&1 IONOS, you can link it to your Ecwid Instant Site in two steps:

  1. Specify the domain name in your Ecwid admin.
  2. Point the domain to your Ecwid site in your 1&1 account.

It might sound complicated, but don't worry — we will guide you through the whole process. Once everything is set up, your Ecwid Instant site will open at your domain name, via secure HTTPS connection (i.e. the web-address will begin with https://).

You need to be on a Venture, Business, or Unlimited plan before you can connect a custom domain to your Instant Site. A free SSL certificate is included. Upgrade

  2. From the Select Product dropdown choose Domains & SSL.
  3. Click the gear icon under Actions next to the domain you're connecting to your Ecwid site and select DNS:

Now please wait a bit till the changes take effect. It usually takes no longer than two hours for the DNS changes to propagate, but can take up to 24-48 hours in some cases.

After that your Instant Site will be available at your own domain (https://myecwidsite.com and https://www.myecwidsite.com).
