Pausing your Ecwid store for maintenance
You can pause your Ecwid store during the off-season or use this option to work on your store without allowing customers to place orders. For that purpose, we offer the Suspension plan for $10 a month.
On the Suspension plan, you can access your Ecwid admin to view and edit settings and your catalog. However, checkout is disabled, so customers can browse your products but cannot place orders.

Activating and deactivating a Suspension plan
To switch to the Suspension plan, please send us a request at billing@ecwid.com. Our support team will make the switch for you and email you further details. To reactivate a suspended plan, please contact our team again.
Closing your storefront for maintenance
If you don’t want customers to browse your storefront while your store is on the Suspension plan, you can also close the storefront. Customers will see the “The store is closed for maintenance” message when they enter your store and won’t be able to browse the store.
To close the storefront from customers:
- From your Ecwid admin, go to Settings → General → Store profile.
- Click Close Storefront for Maintenance.
- (Optional) Change the default message (“The store is closed for maintenance”) and add your custom text. You can specify the reason for the closure and tell when you’ll be back online.
While your storefront is closed, customers visiting your store link will see a default message stating 'The store is closed for maintenance' or a custom message if you’ve set one. When you’re ready to reopen, you can reactivate your storefront from the Ecwid admin under Settings → General → Store profile.
To further enhance the customer experience while your store is paused, you can:
- Hide product prices (from the Design page → Sidebar → Price);
- Disable 'Add to Cart' buttons;
- Hide specific categories;
- Set up pre-order buttons.
These options allow customers to browse your products without attempting to make purchases.
